GAMELAD is an independent PC game review site for people who have finished the blockbusters and want to know what else is out there.
Every year, hundreds of good PC games are released and quietly ignored. Some are indie projects with no marketing budget. Some are licensed games written off before anyone played them. Some are simply older titles that nobody talks about any more. Those are the games we cover.
What we do
We play games, then we write about them honestly. Each review includes:
- A score out of 10, using the full scale rather than clustering everything between 7 and 9
- A clear list of what we liked and what we didn't
- Verified system requirements, checked against official sources
- A straight answer on whether the game is worth your time and money
We cover action, adventure, RPG, indie, strategy, simulation, platformers, racing, arcade, and open world games — all on PC.
What makes us different
We actually play them
No press-kit summaries, no AI-generated filler, no reviews assembled from other people's opinions. If a review is on this site, the game was played.
We publish the bad news too
Every review has a "What we didn't" section. Short campaigns, repetitive combat, bad cameras, thin content — it all goes in, even when we recommend the game overall.
We use the whole score range
Our published scores run from 4.5 to 8.8. A site where everything scores 8+ is not reviewing, it is advertising.
Nobody pays us for a score
We have never accepted money for a review or for a particular verdict. We do not run sponsored posts. The site is supported by our own Gumroad store, and selling a game does not earn it a better score.
Hidden gems only
We deliberately skip the big releases. When a major title launches, a hundred outlets cover it within hours and there is nothing useful we can add. Our value is in the games those outlets skip — the ones you would never find without someone pointing you at them.
How our reviews work
Our full methodology, score meanings, and monetisation disclosure are set out on the Review Policy page. It covers how we pick games, how we score them, what we do when we disagree with the critical consensus, and how we handle corrections.
Who runs GAMELAD
GAMELAD is a small independent operation, not a media company. Reviews are written by a real person who played the game — someone who has spent years digging through storefronts for the games everyone else scrolled past.
We also publish video reviews and rankings on YouTube.
